BLITZFILM is unique in the festivalscene. BLITZFILM is a festival being organized by
filmmakers, which are vivid part of the German independent filmscene since 1975.
BLITZFILM gives a deep insight into recent developments in German shortfilmmaking.
BLITZFILM permits a view into the future with the latest experiments of leaving the
traditional paths of filmmaking. The visuals are leaving the limits of ortodox cinema
and are mixing with other artforms. The interaction of film and music plays a growing
role. BLITZFILM gives surprising insights from Germany .

the AKAS cellar club for exhibitions, performances, readings,
filmscreenings and concerts. First collaborations with Filmgruppe Chaos
1989. Active within Filmgruppe Chaos for about 10 years.
Karsten Weber
born 1960 in Neumuenster, Northgermany. Living in Kiel since 1972.
Founded Filmgruppe Chaos in 1975 as a group of schoolkids. 1986-1998
active as a promotor for international Bands and DJs. From 1988
Exhibitions, drawings, paintings, sculptures, copy-art. 1991-1992 Living
in the south of Spain , working in Gibraltar . 1992-1993 Living in London ,
collaborating with EXPLODING CINEMA. Teaching Film at various
universities, artschools and cultural centers.

Didgeridoo and Bronze Age Horns_experimental film/ video works.
For nearly two decades, musician Phil Conyngham has been part of the rise to international prominence of the Northern Australian Indigenous musical instrument, the didgeridoo (yidaki), building his reputation from live performance and recorded works (including soundtracks for film and television), as well combining his musical talents with an ongoing interest in experimental film and video, and academic presentations.
Growing up in ‘ out-back ' Australia, Phil began his study of the instrument by learning accompaniment to Aboriginal songs and dances. Influences from other musical styles led to the development of his playing technique to suit the western ear and to transpose the instrument from its traditional context into, and across, the full spectrum of contemporary music. While studying film as part of a B.A. degree at the University of New South Wales in the 1980's, Conyngham decided to combine his early film and video works with experimental dance performance, art installations and sound design featuring electronically treated acoustic sounds, including that of the didgeridoo.
Known to didgeridoo enthusiasts as one of the world ' s leading performers on the instrument, Conyngham pioneered the crossover of didj into the electronic club/ DJ scene in the late 80 ' s and early 90 ' s and traveled the globe extensively to do it. His collaborations at the experimental end of jazz, folk, rock, avant-noise and electronic dance music, include an ‘ acoustic Hip-Hop ' out-fit from Spanish Harlem known as ‘ Vox Box ' , whilst Phil lived in New York from ‘ 89- ' 90. The unusual three person group featured rapping, a ‘ crazy girl doing vocal beat boxing ' and of course didgeridoo.
Spending more time in London in the early to mid 90 ' s Phil created his ‘ Waxhxad Pxrvxrts ' project (a name taken from a ‘ super -8 ' “ trash-thriller /film-noir-surf movie ” he made with his mates in Oz) alongside D Controlled Weirdness (Unearthly Records/ U.K.). ‘ It ' s Aboriginal ' released b the notorious London free party crew ‘ Liberator ' o their Stay U Forever label scored the antipodean a number one place i London ' s hard trance charts for three weeks. H also continued t collaborate with experimental film groups including Filmgruppe-chaos (Chaos film, based i Kiel , Germany ) and Exploding Cinema ( London , U.K. ).
In addition to his solo projects, Conyngham ' s work with the Australian/ Irish ensemble Cruinniu (known previously as ‘ Reconciliation ' ), resulted in several albums of high critical acclaim throughout the 90 ' s that again showcase his dual role as both instrumentalist and producer. Following an introduction to the Irish horns over ten years ago from fellow Cruinniu member Simon O ' Dwyer, Phil has become one of the few exponents of these Bronze Age instruments, (the originals date from around 800 BC) and he has had several horn types recast and although they have been silent for nearly 3000 years, his experience as a didj player has helped in developing methods to play them.
Phil also gives lectures and workshops in didgeridoo and Bronze Age horns at universities and conservatories internationally. Those who have come under his tuition include brass players from several orchestras including the BBC Symphony, Ensemble Modern, as well as Wallace Buchanan, didgeridoo player with the English pop group Jamiroquai.
Conyngham continues to impact on both the acoustic and electronic music scenes by refusing to limit his didgeridoo virtuosity to one musical style. An unpredictable and dynamic genre twister, who doesn ' t want to see his instruments confined to the label of ‘ ethno ' or ' new age ' , he combines the approaches used by the more radical producers and re-mixers of leftfield rock, pop and electronic music, with the attitude of a jazz improviser to continually push the boundaries of tone, timbre and technique.
Currently, Conyngham is touring under the monikers ‘ Shadow of the Voice: An Aerophonic Orchestra ' and ‘ DMP Didj Master Philth ' : Music for Didjeridoo, Irish horns and Sound System. Both projects feature the ancient instruments in combination with various ‘ electronic devices ' with the first project being multi-layered ‘ electro-acoustic ' improvisations and the second billed as; ‘ post-rave, neo-rock excursions over funky/ abstract dance-floor beats ' for the ultimate live instrumental/ clubbing crossover experience along with his multi-media Dangerous Visions video work and projections from German super-8 film maker and V.J. Karsten Weber.
Phil Conyngham turns up in the most unlikely places. From small clubs in New York, Berlin, Tokyo, Paris or Berlin to festival appearances at Sphinx, Glastonbury, Womad, sessions in the pubs of Galway Ireland, performances at the Sydney Opera House, outback rodeos and Aboriginal communities in his native Australia and independent/ underground multi-media events in all corners of the world!
